Billie Piper ‘in road accident’   Leave a comment

Actress Billie Piper is believed to have been involved in a car accident with a 16-year-old cyclist.

A Metropolitan Police spokesman said: ‘Police were called to Goods Way, King’s Cross, by the London Ambulance Service at 15.56hrs on Tuesday, July 29 to reports of a road traffic collision between a motor vehicle and a cyclist. The driver of the vehicle was female.”

He said that enquiries continue into the incident which involved “a black VW Golf which was in collision with a cycle being ridden by a 16-year-old male. The driver stopped at the scene.”

The Mail on Sunday reports that Piper was driving at under five miles per hour when the incident happened.

Piper, 31, who has appeared in Doctor Who and The Secret Diary Of A Call Girl, is currently appearing in a play at the National Theatre called Great Britain where she plays a tabloid news editor.

A London Ambulance Service spokesman said: “We were called at 15.53 to reports of a road traffic collision involving a car and a bike on York Way.

“We sent a responder by car and an ambulance crew to the scene.

“We treated a boy reported to be 16 years old for a shoulder injury.

“He was taken to University College Hospital.”

The report claims that Piper was travelling in her Volkswagen Golf with her sons when the cyclist hit the back of her car.

A London Ambulance Service spokesman said: “We were called at 3.53pm to reports of a road traffic collision involving a car and a bike on York Way.

“We sent a responder by car and an ambulance crew to the scene. We treated a boy reported to be 16 years old for a shoulder injury. He was taken to University College Hospital.”

Piper is then thought to have travelled to the National Theatre for her performance in the play Great Britain.

However, her understudy Jo Dockery replaced her for the evening’s show on Tuesday (July 29). Piper returned to the stage the following night.

Scotland Yard has confirmed that an investigation into the incident has been launched.

Former companion Billie Piper has never been scared of the Daleks   Leave a comment

Pssst, do you want to know a secret? She may have got into a few scrapes with them in her time, but Billie Piper isn’t even a little bit scared of Doctor Who’s most iconic monster.

Piper, who played Doctor Who companion Rose Tyler, has revealed her nerves of steel when it comes to the creepy killers, saying: “I’ve never been scared by the Daleks myself.”

Speaking at last night’s UK premiere of Penny Dreadful, Piper said the things she faces in the new Sky drama are much scarier than Doctor Who’s tank-like villains.

“As much as [Penny Dreadful] has all these supernatural elements [like Doctor Who] I think it’s largely about mortality,” said Piper, adding: “It’s about lots of people existing on the outskirts of society and becoming one and living with demons and darkness – and I think all of that is pretty scary. Far scarier than a Dalek!”

Just because Penny Dreadful stars a former companion, doesn’t mean it’ll appeal to Doctor Who’s target audience. Sky Atlantic and Showtime’s new co-production, starring Josh Hartnett, Eva Green, Timothy Dalton and Harry Treadaway, is a dark and violent thriller in which Piper plays a troubled, terminally ill prostitute.

And we’re fairly sure it isn’t going to be all okay in the end because a charming Time Lord turns up and sorts it all out…

▶ Doctor Who’s Rose Tyler (Billie Piper) Talks & Sings with Lindalee – YouTube   Leave a comment

Lindalee Rose catches up with Actress Billie Piper (Rose Tyler) to Chat and Sing at the 2014 Gallifrey One Doctor Who Convention.

British Singer and Actress Billie Piper made one of her first USA Doctor Who convention appearances in Los Angeles, California over President’s Day Weekend in late February 2014. As one of the most popular of the Doctor’s Companions, it was a real treat when she volunteered to sit down for a few minutes with our own 5 1/2 year old resident Whovian; Lindalee.

Of course with Lindalee, the traditional Doctor Who fan questions are tossed out the window and the honest and fun inquiries of a young fan are always a treat to watch.

▶ Lindalee at the 25th Annual GALLIFREY ONE Convention   Leave a comment

With the ever-growing popularity of Doctor Who in the past few years, the need for Whovians (devotee’s of the hit BBC show) to express their love and support culminated last weekend at Gallifrey One, the world’s largest and longest running annual fan-run Doctor Who convention. What started out 25 years ago as small fan convention that pulled in a few hundred fans, drew in over 3700 attendees over the 2014 President’s Day weekend. With celebrity appearances from Colin Baker (6th Doctor), Paul McGann (8th Doctor), Billie Piper (Companion: Rose Tyler), Arthur Darvill (Companion: Rory Williams) and dozens of other guests, fans of all ages were in for a treat. In addition to autograph signings, there were specialty panels, themed puppet shows, reunion panels, a giant vendor room and tons of photo-ops with guests dressed like their favorite time-lord, alien species, menacing robots or feisty female companions.

Our own resident Whovian, 5 1/2 year old Lindalee Rose returned for her 2nd year at Gallifrey One. Having gotten her 1st big break at last years event, her excitement was unbridled for the opportunity to return and connect with fellow Doctor Who fans and to interview some of the cast of the show. We’ve compiled a best of Gallifrey One 2014 video that our web-series crew captured with Lindalee Rose during her adventures in space, time…and the Marriott Los Angeles Airport Hotel.
